Abduct! is a full version iPhone game that does not cost anything to play. Anyone who likes simple games may enjoy playing Abduct!, especially since the gaming concept is easy to understand and the gameplay offers just enough of a challenge to keep the player interested.
I was surprised with how much I enjoyed playing Abduct!. Thinking that I would not enjoy the game, I just played it casually and did not think that it would offer much of a challenge. However, as I learned how to play it, I came to like the gameplay.
Firstly, the point of the game is to act as the UFO and abduct as many Earthlings as possible. There are cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, ducks, and people. One of the biggest downsides to this game is that all of the abductees are worth the same amount of points. In fact, I might say that Abduct! is the only iPhone game that I have played that I can really call the “Great Equalizer,” since the animals are worth the same points as the humans.
At any rate, the controls are perfect for this type of game, although I found them difficult to use at first. The player has to tilt the iPhone in order to move the UFO. Tapping on the objects while the UFO is hovering over them will make them disappear.
Another big downside is that the pause button is at the bottom of the screen. Its large size actually makes it easy to accidentally tap on it. I have done so many times, and I wish that the pause button could be placed at the top of the screen. Perhaps it might even be easier to make the pause control as a swiping motion across the screen.
The graphics are nothing to write home about, but they are good for this type of game. After all, this game does not even cost the player a penny, so the decent graphics are just a bonus.
One thing I would like the developer to improve is the difficulty of the game. There should be other levels in which the UFO has to collect a certain number of abductees. The time limit certainly makes Abduct! a challenging game, but it only takes a small amount of gaming and practice to be able to collect all of the animals and humans in the current level.
Overall, I would highly recommend Abduct!, especially to young children and to people who like playing casual games.
